Optional analytics

Google Analytics measures page visits and clicks to the official operator sites only after you enable Analytics in “Cookie preferences.” We do not load the Google analytics script before that choice. You can reject analytics or change your choice using “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of any page.

We send page paths, page titles and the operator domain for outgoing comparison links. We retain standard campaign parameters (such as UTM tags and campaign click identifiers) and the referring website to distinguish search, referral and campaign visits. Other query parameters and URL fragments are removed from our page-view data; external referrers are reduced to their origin. We do not send report form contents, and disable measurement on the issue-report page. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled. Google may process browser, device and network information when analytics is enabled, as described in Google’s partner-site privacy explanation.

Your choice is stored in your browser for up to 180 days. If you allow analytics, Google may set first-party analytics cookies. Rejecting removes this site’s accessible Google Analytics cookies and disables further measurement. Rejection does not remove information already processed.

Optional Reddit ad measurement

Reddit measurement has its own separate marketing permission. If enabled, the Reddit Pixel records an OperatorVisit custom event when you click an operator website link. This measures an outbound click, not a purchase, signup or completed operator transaction. We share the operator domain and restricted campaign identifiers to help relate clicks to Reddit ads. Reddit can also process browser, network and cookie identifiers under its privacy policy.

The pixel runs in a separate measurement document only after permission. It is not attached to our report form, and we remove it on the issue-report page or when you withdraw consent. We do not send contact information, report text, attachments or full parent-page URLs. Cookie preferences at the bottom of each page let you reject or withdraw permission. This removes accessible Reddit cookies and stored campaign attribution; it cannot undo data previously processed. Your choice lasts up to 180 days; campaign identifiers are retained for the browser session after consent.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you subscribe, your email address is sent to Mailchimp to manage the newsletter and confirm your request. We email a confirmation link; you are subscribed only after clicking it. You can unsubscribe at any time. We retain your address and consent record to provide the newsletter; you can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter or contact rippin@ripcompass.com for deletion. Mailchimp also processes signup metadata for security and consent records. We have enabled only the initial opt-in confirmation, without an automated welcome sequence.

Hosting and interactive tools

Vercel serves the website and may process standard request and security logs, including network information. Calculator inputs stay in your browser. Submitted reviews and complaints are stored on private Vercel Blob storage. Only approved public fields are shown on the website; private storage addresses are not exposed to readers.

Reader reviews and private complaints

Submitting a review or complaint sends your display name, email, text, consent choices and (for reviews) star rating to RipCompass. We store the record privately with Vercel and use your email to handle the submission. A keyed, time-limited hash of your network address and email helps limit spam; raw addresses are not stored in these rate-limit records. Moderation access requires a private team access key.

Reviews are published only after moderation and your publication consent. Published fields are your display name, title, review text, star rating and submission date. Complaints remain private unless you separately consent to publication and the team approves a redacted summary. A public complaint may also show its status and resolution date. Your email and private requested outcome are not published. Do not include passwords, account identifiers, payment details or identity documents in your text.

Permission to contact an operator is separate from public publication. With your explicit sharing consent, our team may share the complaint, requested outcome and email with the selected operator’s verified support address. Submitting does not send an operator message automatically. Additional evidence requires separate permission. Google Workspace processes correspondence sent through our email account.

We retain submission records as needed for moderation, case handling, publication and related disputes. You can request access, correction or deletion by emailing rippin@ripcompass.com with your submission reference. Public ratings include approved reader reviews only and are separate from editorial scores. We do not send form contents to analytics or marketing providers; these services are disabled on report and moderation pages.

Interaction measurement

With analytics consent, we measure brand exit clicks, calculator use, newsletter signup attempts, successful review or complaint submissions on review pages, FAQ opening, comparison filters and scroll depth. Event metadata identifies the platform, page and interaction category. We do not send email addresses, review text, complaint contents or entered calculator amounts to Google Analytics. A newsletter signup attempt does not mean double opt-in has been completed. Analytics is disabled on admin and report-issue pages.

External sites and your choices

Operator links lead to sites with their own privacy practices. We may use affiliate links, as explained in our disclosure. For access, correction or deletion requests relating to information you have sent us, contact the mailbox above. We retain correspondence only as needed to handle the request and associated editorial records.
