Which card vault fits your collection?

For graded cards you may later sell on eBay, start with PSA. For integrated auctions and fixed-price listings, compare Fanatics Collect and Alt. For eligible raw cards and a larger inventory of lower-priced singles, review COMC’s intake and storage model. Arena Club adds a grading and trading route, while Collector Crypt and Courtyard introduce token ownership and physical redemption.

Long-term storage or frequent trading?

A collector keeping a few slabs for years should focus on custody, insurance terms and the final withdrawal bill. A frequent seller also needs to compare sales commissions, marketplace reach and payment settlement. Free storage can suit both, but only if the remaining charges fit your use case.

See our PSA vs Fanatics Collect vs Alt comparison for a closer look at three graded-card routes.

How we choose the best card vaults

We compare accepted cards and external intake, custody documentation, fee transparency, withdrawal handling and destination access. Services with an established external submission route lead the general comparison. The TCG list puts raw-card inventory and graded-card eligibility first. The Europe list prioritises a documented international withdrawal route; it does not claim that these vaults are physically in Europe.

Our sources are the providers’ own fee schedules, help centres and terms. We distinguish operator statements from independent verification and link the supporting documents in every review. Where official pages disagree or a deadline is not published, we show the gap rather than substitute an estimate.

The total cost of vaulting a card

Add inbound postage, intake or imaging, storage, retrieval, outbound insured shipping and any destination charges. If selling is your goal, include the marketplace commission and withdrawal fee for sale proceeds. A percentage fulfillment fee makes expensive cards cost more to retrieve even when annual storage is free.

A worked PSA withdrawal example

For one card held at least 90 days, PSA’s published $1.99 withdrawal fee plus $5.99 US shipping totals $7.98. Removing that same card before 90 days adds $4.99, for $12.97. This example excludes the cost of sending the card to PSA, grading, selling and destination-specific charges. See the PSA Vault review for the current source and shipment limits.

What to check before sending a valuable card

  1. Confirm the exact submission address and that intake is open.
  2. Save the card’s front, back, grade and certificate number.
  3. Read declared-value limits and the carrier’s actual insurance terms.
  4. Keep the intake receipt and reconcile it against your account inventory.
  5. Find the withdrawal request and fee calculation before you need the card back.
  6. Check the claims deadline and contact route for loss, damage or an inventory mismatch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best trading card vault?

Choose for your next action. PSA connects graded-card storage to eBay selling; Fanatics Collect combines custody with its marketplace and auctions; COMC is worth comparing for raw-card inventory. Alt is another graded-card option. The lowest storage price is not necessarily the lowest total cost after withdrawal and selling fees.

Are card vaults legit?

There are established businesses offering physical custody, but a vault name or a photographed slab is not a guarantee. Check the legal operator, eligible items, custody terms, insurance limits, claims process and withdrawal rules. Each linked review explains the evidence for that provider and the limits of what it establishes.

Is a card vault the same as a binder or Vault X storage box?

No. These reviews cover businesses that physically hold cards for customers. Binders, sleeves, home safes and storage boxes stay in your possession. Portfolio apps and price trackers also do not establish physical custody of your cards.

Are trading card vaults free?

Some services advertise no ongoing storage fee. Intake, low-value items, early removal, fulfillment, shipping, selling and cash withdrawal can still cost money. Compare the full fee table rather than treating free storage as a free round trip.

How long does it take to receive cards from a vault?

A withdrawal request starts a handling queue; the shipping service starts after dispatch. PSA does not provide a verified universal dispatch window in the sources reviewed here. Fanatics Collect currently warns that processing can take 10–15 business days. Carrier transit, identity checks and international customs can add time. See the dated provider reviews for scope and source links.

Can I vault Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and One Piece cards?

Eligible trading cards can include these games, but check the exact grader, language, condition and product format. Acceptance of graded Pokémon singles does not mean a vault accepts raw Yu-Gi-Oh! cards or sealed One Piece boxes. Confirm the submission category before mailing anything.

Can collectors in Europe use US card vaults?

Some services offer international shipments, but shipping availability is separate from account and seller eligibility. Confirm your country, return destination and any identification requirements. A US vault holding your cards is not an EU storage facility, and returning cards can involve destination charges and customs paperwork.

Does vaulting guarantee a card’s value?

No. Physical storage, grading and price estimates are different services. A vault can hold your card while its market price changes. A displayed valuation is not a guaranteed sale price, insurance settlement or buyback offer.
