Our verdict
Useful for holding existing Courtyard cards while choosing whether to sell or ship. The pause on external submissions is decisive for collectors comparing where to send cards they already own.
Pros
- Storage and vault insurance are stated as free
- Documented physical redemption for existing holdings
- Published zero-fee peer-to-peer marketplace option
- Shipping charges displayed before checkout
Cons
- External submissions are currently paused
- Up to 10 business days of processing precedes transit
- Shipment costs require card payment rather than wallet USDC
- Overseas returns require destination-specific cost planning

RipCompass score: 6.5/10

Approx. delivery time: withdrawal to your door
Up to 10 business days processing before carrier transit
A physical withdrawal has two stages: retrieval and packing, then carrier transit. Holding a card in an online inventory does not start a shipment. Submit a shipping request and use its destination-specific quote to plan the arrival date.
Vault location and US / European access
Vault location: Delaware, United States
External intake: External card submissions currently paused
International redemption supported; external intake is paused and was US-origin only
External intake is paused
The live Vault Your Cards page currently tells collectors that external submissions are paused. That changes the recommendation: do not send a parcel using an older instruction or assume a previously advertised intake estimate still applies. Confirm reopening directly before planning a deposit.
The documented intake model covers graded cards and comics sent from within the United States. It is different from buying an item already on Courtyard and leaving that item stored. European buyers should not confuse international redemption availability with permission to submit cards from Europe.

Storage, ownership and the insurance value
Courtyard states that storing and insuring a collection carries no fee. Its insurance page describes market-value coverage and reimbursement at the insured value if an item is lost or damaged. The relevant amount is therefore the covered asset value, not automatically the original price of a pack.
The terms describe the relationship between a digital holding and its physical asset. Physical redemption involves verifying ownership, identity and eligibility, then removing the associated token when the collectible is released. Maintain access to your account and the records identifying the card you intend to redeem.

Delaware processing versus delivery to your door
Courtyard’s shipping guide identifies Delaware as the vault’s shipping origin. It allows up to 10 business days to process a request before carrier transit. A European parcel has another leg after that: international transport and any local clearance.
The checkout calculates shipping using factors including destination and package weight. Courtyard describes its carrier charges as at cost. Read the displayed taxes and total before submitting because shipment orders cannot be edited afterward. For several cards, compare one combined request with the cost of separate parcels.

Selling a holding or paying to ship it
The help center presents a peer-to-peer listing at your chosen price as an alternative to taking a pack buyback offer. It states zero marketplace fees for that route. A pack buyback is a separate offer with its own valuation and expiry; it should not be used as the commission figure in a vault comparison.
Shipment payment is another separate decision. The help page requires a credit or debit card and says Courtyard wallet USDC cannot cover shipping. Keep that distinction in mind if you intended to fund every cost from a card sale.
