THREE GRADED-CARD ROUTES

PSA Vault vs Fanatics Collect vs Alt

Three ways to keep a slab in professional custody. The biggest differences show up when you sell it or ask for it back.

Choose PSA for its graded-card and eBay workflow

PSA is the simplest starting point of these three if you want eligible slabs stored within its grading and consignment ecosystem. Its physical retrieval charge is per card rather than a percentage of the card’s value. That difference becomes especially relevant with a high-value card you intend to ship home.

The tradeoff is eligibility: raw cards are not accepted into this vault, and eBay consignment country access is separate from international shipping. European collectors should check the selling-country list before assuming they can use every feature.

Choose Fanatics Collect for its marketplace and collectible range

Fanatics Collect combines custody with auctions and fixed-price selling. It also documents routes for approved sealed products and larger authenticated collectibles, with different intake fees. A collection that spans slabs and other memorabilia needs those categories checked item by item.

Its fulfillment charge is based on insured value. On an illustrative $1,000 item, the published 3% early-removal rate is $30; the later 1% rate is $10. Shipping and insurance are additional. Current processing queues also matter if you need a card for a show or private transaction.

Choose Alt for its collection tools and alternate storage route

Alt publishes separate rules for externally submitted cards and cards purchased through its own marketplace. It also allows raw-card storage, although raw cards cannot be sold through Alt. That makes it important to distinguish “accepted into storage” from “eligible for sale”.

For externally submitted cards, the published physical outtake rate is 3% within or at 90 days and 1% after 90 days, with the later fee capped at $100 per card. Alt purchases have a different early rate. International withdrawals require contact with support.

What does one $1,000 card cost to retrieve?

PSA$1.99$5.99 US published shipment fee, up to 50 cards
Fanatics Collect$10 at $1,000 insured valueAdditional quote
Alt$10 at $1,000 fee-basis valueAdditional quote

This is a physical-withdrawal comparison, not a selling-fee comparison. It assumes the stated valuation at the relevant provider and excludes inbound shipping, grading and other account or destination charges. Each provider can use a different valuation method.

Which is best for Pokémon and other TCGs?

For a graded Pokémon collection, all three deserve a review of supported graders and card eligibility. PSA is useful when eBay consignment fits your country and selling plan. Fanatics Collect can fit an auction-oriented collection; Alt can fit a collection managed within its own marketplace. For raw TCG inventory intended for resale, compare COMC separately.

Which is best from Europe?

PSA publishes international outbound shipping prices, Fanatics Collect documents international shipment procedures, and Alt handles international withdrawals through support. None of these facts alone establishes that a collector can open every account type or sell from every European country. Use our European card vault comparison to separate location, shipment access and account eligibility.

Frequently asked questions

Is PSA Vault cheaper than Fanatics Collect?

For physical retrieval of a high-value card, PSA’s flat per-card fee can be lower than Fanatics Collect’s percentage fulfillment charge. Compare shipping, storage exceptions, early removal and selling charges before deciding which is cheaper for the whole journey.

Is Alt the same as Fanatics Collect?

No. They are separate services with different custody locations, marketplaces, valuations and fee schedules. Alt distinguishes externally submitted cards from cards purchased on Alt when calculating early outtake charges.

Can I move a card from one vault to another?

Ask the sending and receiving providers for a supported transfer or shipping route. A collection entry or token transfer does not itself move a physical card between warehouses. Check both companies’ fees, submission requirements and transit coverage.

Does the cheapest vault also give the best sale price?

No. Storage and withdrawal fees do not determine buyer demand or the final sale price. Compare the net proceeds after marketplace charges and payout fees, along with whether the selling route is available in your country.
