Looking to open packs as well?

For digital pack openings, our featured pick is TheCollectibles.io. Reveal a physical card, then choose whether to keep it, ship it or accept an available sell-back offer.

This is a pack-opening platform recommendation, not a replacement for an external card-storage service. Check country access, delivery costs and the exact offer before opening.

Our verdict

A useful option to assess when you want storage plus collection tools, especially for graded cards. Check the value basis and exit costs carefully, and do not assume raw cards stored there can also be sold through Alt.

Pros

  • No recurring storage charge.
  • Raw-card storage is supported under stated submission conditions.
  • Publishes an outbound processing allowance and collection workflow.

Cons

  • Percentage withdrawal charges depend on value and holding period.
  • Official pages conflict at exactly the $50 intake threshold.
  • International retrieval requires support rather than the normal self-service route.

Approx. delivery time: withdrawal to your door

Allow two business days for outbound processing, then carrier transit

A physical withdrawal has two stages: retrieval and packing, then carrier transit. Holding a card in an online inventory does not start a shipment. Submit a shipping request and use its destination-specific quote to plan the arrival date.

Storage eligibility is not selling eligibility

Alt accepts supported graded cards and provides a raw-card storage route. Those two uses should not be confused: raw cards cannot be sold on Alt under the published overview. A collector seeking a place for ungraded singles therefore needs to decide whether safekeeping alone meets the goal.

For a large raw submission, confirm the process first and avoid casually including fillers. Alt’s overview describes a confirmation requirement and possible disposal of unconfirmed raw cards after contact. An itemized submission list is useful when the collection contains both sale-eligible slabs and storage-only cards.

How intake and exit costs change the comparison

The absence of a recurring storage bill is attractive for a long hold, but intake and retrieval remain separate. Low-value graded cards and raw cards can attract a $5 intake fee, while the two official pages differ on the treatment of a card worth exactly $50. Request confirmation at that threshold instead of assuming the favorable interpretation.

Withdrawal also depends on where the card came from. An externally submitted card follows a different early rate from one bought on Alt, and the published cap belongs to the later holding period. Compare a complete journey—arrival, holding, retrieval and postage—rather than applying a single percentage to every scenario.

Processing, shipping and international access

Alt’s inbound wording describes receipt acknowledgement and processing in slightly different ways; approximately three to four business days is a reasonable reading of the stated stages, not a guaranteed intake deadline. Keep delivery confirmation separate from the point at which the card appears ready in your account.

Alt allows two business days for outbound processing before carrier transit. International withdrawals go through support, which provides the destination-specific shipping arrangements and quote.

Insurance and the right use case

Alt describes controlled storage and insurance based on Alt Value, while saying that customers retain ownership. The valuation basis matters if your own purchase price or expected resale price differs. Insurance against covered physical loss is also different from protection against a falling card market.

Alt is a better fit for collectors who use its account tools than for someone seeking the lowest cost for a handful of inexpensive raw cards. Selling commissions are separate from physical withdrawal fees, so a hold-and-sell plan needs a different calculation from a hold-and-ship plan.
