What is new: Season 02, with three different kinds of reward
Courtyard announced Season 02 of its Rewards program on X on October 2. The post promotes packs, exclusive drops and shipping benefits, then links to its existing Rewards explainer. That is the current news hook: a new season announcement, rather than proof that every part of the program launched this month.
The useful distinction for collectors is between a free pack, a Guaranteed Value Pack and reward points. They do different jobs. Before treating a reward as part of your pack budget, identify whether it removes a purchase cost, adds a conditional buyback benefit or gives you a separate promotional balance.
We checked the official social posts and documentation on October 10. This is a public-source explanation, not a report of packs we opened or rewards we personally redeemed.

A Guaranteed Value Pack still involves buying the pack
Courtyard describes a Guaranteed Value Pack, or GVP, as a benefit applied to an eligible purchase. You claim a code and use it on a qualifying pack. The stated guarantee is a return of at least the pack price through the applicable buyback offer. A monthly Free Pack is a separate benefit; a GVP does not itself make the purchase free.
That changes how to compare the two. Imagine an illustrative $50 purchase covered by a valid guarantee. Receiving a qualifying $50 buyback offer would address the pack-price downside described by that offer. It would not establish what the physical card could fetch from another collector, how much delivery costs or whether a later sale reaches the same amount.
Before using a code, inspect the eligible product, allowance, conditions and actual buyback flow. Decide beforehand whether your goal is the physical card or the buyback route. A guarantee attached to one route should not be carried over to a different outcome.
October is a new season, not a reset of every benefit at once
The Rewards FAQ uses calendar quarters: January–March, April–June, July–September and October–December. It says the monthly grant is issued before the one-tier reduction at the start of a new season. Its own example has a September Platinum member receiving Platinum rewards on October 1, then moving to Gold.
The FAQ also separates qualifying pack spending from marketplace purchases, promotional bonuses and points. Those other activities do not count toward tier qualification. Season cutoffs and monthly grants use UTC, so the date displayed in a social post is not a substitute for the program clock.
A practical way to read your account is to keep three notes: your current tier, the benefits already issued and the date used for the next grant. If they differ, that is a question to resolve before spending more. An attractive next-tier benefit is not a reason to enlarge a collecting budget you already set.
Points, tiers and pack odds answer different questions
The Rewards explainer explicitly separates Reward Points from tier progress. Earning or redeeming points does not advance the tier; a qualifying purchase associated with a quest can count independently. This is why a large points headline should not be read as a shortcut to the next membership level.
Keep the pack decision separate too. Start with the price and the published distribution of possible contents. Then consider the reward you can actually use. Adding an appealing benefit does not supply missing probabilities or tell you which card will appear.
For your own comparison, record the pack cost in one column and confirmed usable benefits in another. Leave a speculative raffle win out of the ordinary spending calculation. If you would not want the pack without the possible bonus, pause and compare it with buying the exact single instead.
This week’s promotions need their own date checks
Courtyard’s October 7 community-selected raffle post says entries run through Friday. The help page titled Community Choice: Pokémon Raffle instead lists an October 2–November 6 period, while its introduction names a different promotion, Neo Blast From The Past. Those details do not establish that the specific social-media draw is still accepting entries on October 10.
The rules describe a free account-based entry route, restrict eligibility and say winning odds depend on total eligible entries. The unresolved naming and timing mismatch is a reason to check the exact draw and attached rules, not to assume the longest date applies. We are not presenting that raffle as currently open.
The separate Baseball: The Lineup announcement specifies October 5–9. Its format added points bounties to selected chase cards in different baseball packs. That published event window has passed as of this article. An old post or homepage banner should not be treated as evidence of an extension.
What to check before your next pack
Open the actual reward details before choosing the pack: confirm what you have already earned, what requires a purchase and which date governs its use. Save the relevant conditions if a benefit materially affects your choice.
Then compare the complete outcome you want. For a card you intend to keep, inspect shipping and the collectible itself. For an unwanted pull, inspect the current buyback and withdrawal route. For a specific card, compare the single. Rewards can be useful, but they belong after those decisions rather than replacing them.
Frequently asked questions
What should I compare before using a pack reward?
Compare the amount you must spend, the exact benefit you can use and the final outcome you want: a physical card or proceeds from a sale. Keep uncertain promotional prizes out of your ordinary budget.
Does this article confirm that the October raffle is still open?
No. The linked social announcement and help page do not agree on the relevant draw and deadline. Check the specific draw rather than assuming the longest published date applies.
